The McAdam Railway Station and Hotel: Fact, Fiction and Photographs (2014)

The McAdam Railway Station and Hotel is one of Canada's true hidden gems. Originally built in 1900, the McAdam Station, located in a small village in south-west New Brunswick near the border with the United States, is an architectural treasure, a National and Provincial historic site and a designated Heritage Railway Station. The vibrant centre of a community struggling to survive, the McAdam Station won the "People's Choice Aware for Great Public Space" in the 2014 Great Places in Canada competition.

Until recently, however, the McAdam Railway Station and Hotel was, itself, in danger of fading into history. Long since abandoned, the Station was literally falling to pieces when a dedicated group of local volunteers took over ownership of it in the mid-1990s. Thanks to their efforts, the restoration of this important heritage site is well underway.

This coffee table book, filled with recent and historic photographs, as well as interesting articles on the history of the Station and its restoration and a good dose of Abigail Massey's adventures, is a testament to the tireless volunteers in McAdam and the spectacular building they seek to preserve.
